Tottenham Considering Offloading Attacker Welsh International Johnson.

Wales international Brennan Johnson
Brennan Johnson has earned 42 times for Wales after his first appearance in 2020.

Tottenham Hotspur's European final match-winner Brennan Johnson is facing an uncertain future in North London due to rising top-flight interest in the attacker.

It is understood that Tottenham, while not actively looking to part with the Welsh international, are receptive to letting Johnson leave should they receive a suitable offer.

The Eagles are presently the team furthest along in their pursuit for Johnson, but other teams are said to be keeping tabs on his status with interest.

Last Campaign of Mixed Fortunes

Johnson was Spurs' top top-flight scorer the previous campaign with 11 goals, and secured his place in club history by netting the decisive goal in their Europa League final victory over United last season, bringing to a close the club's seventeen-year wait for a trophy.

However, the exit of Ange Postecoglou and appointment of Thomas Frank has resulted in Johnson playing more of a reduced role in the current campaign.

The Welsh forward, has made only six top-flight starting appearances under Frank.

January Market Interest Grows

Therefore, a number of clubs have been alerted to his possible departure before the January transfer window.

Due to his reduced minutes and the prospect of a World Cup approaching with his national team, a transfer elsewhere from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could benefit Johnson next month.

The attacker moved to Tottenham from Nottingham Forest in a deal valued at £47.5m in the summer of 2023 and has scored 27 goals in all competitions.

Key Points

  • Brennan Johnson's position at Spurs is now uncertain.
  • Tottenham is not actively marketing him but would consider offers.
  • Crystal Palace are at the front of the queue, with further Premier League clubs monitoring.
  • The arrival of manager has reduced his first-team opportunities significantly.
  • The upcoming transfer window and international commitments could drive a January exit.
