The network's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Major Extension for Seasons 2 and 3.

During the fall season, Adult Swim saw the return of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. However, shortly thereafter, the network launched a brand-new animated series with a strikingly different vibe. Haha, You Clowns emerged as heartwarming and calm, reminiscent of a cartoon version of a contemplative talk show. During a period often defined by cynicism, this show's earnestness found an audience and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, Adult Swim revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The show centers on three polite teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four key characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Executive Acclaim

In the same announcement commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who discovered the show and championed its peculiarly charming style.

"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about following this lovable family navigate their daily lives.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa shared his goal to evolve comedy past its current sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to various cultural shifts.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” explained Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we must laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

What Comes Next

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that very evolution. At a minimum, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to enjoy the gentle humor of the endearing Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is available for streaming on HBO Max.
