Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for concerns to be asked about his position after another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, marking the team's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “During our regular discussions I feel the trust. But I've not talked to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period such as this with results so bad.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until it is gone, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
