Shock as Renowned South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country grappling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old presenter was approached by three suspects, with one shot at him before running away.
The purpose behind the shooting has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, police said.
How It Happened
Authorities revealed that Stock was targeted as he was exiting a building near the city center landmark.
He had spent several hours at the site managing the setup of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"It is alleged the victim was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," an official report said.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what resembled a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but succumbed to his injuries a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the assault.
Key evidence, like bullet casings, were discovered at the scene.

Officials are asking members of the public who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.
"Our information indicates they walked a long distance after the attack, and officers have been tracking them to establish their whereabouts," added an official.

His family member, Nicole Stock, expressed the loved ones are reeling to come to terms with the loss.
"I am devastated. I cannot express the pain," were her words.
"It is clear he was a voice for many people. He was a fearless commentator about topics not many people were prepared to speak about. This is a tremendous loss."
She appealed to the citizens to not sharing explicit content from the scene, saying this was an deeply traumatic time, particularly for Stock's three sons.

Stock was the presenter of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that premiered on a popular local broadcasting platform.
