Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice late to take a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the final moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
