Former BBC Consultants Face Members of Parliament's Questioning After Claims of Partiality in Unauthorized Memorandum
We begin with inquiries from Tory Member of Parliament the committee chair, who leads the group.
She initiates by providing context to the disclosed document prepared by Michael Prescott and published in the Telegraph.
"I don't want the British Broadcasting Corporation slanting in any particular direction, I simply desire it straight, impartial and equitable," he states.
When asked whether he thinks the BBC is systematically partial, he responds: "No I don't. It is important to note, a great deal the BBC does is exceptional - encompassing informative and non-factual content."
But he adds: "There is substantial tasks that needs to be done at the BBC."
Another former external British Broadcasting Corporation consultant questioned by the panel, Caroline Daniel, remarks she views the BBC very seriously and that it has a "ongoing system and active debate" across dynamic and complex issues.
"Was the BBC willing to have a thorough conversation and argument and act accordingly?" she reflects. "As I see it, indeed, they were."
