The distinguished UK star Helen Mirren, currently recipient of an Oscar statuette, four Baftas, Golden Globe wins, five Emmys, plus a Tony, is set to add another esteemed prize to her shelf: the DeMille Golden Globe lifetime achievement award.

Dame Helen, 80, formerly honored as a dame during 2003 and made a Bafta fellow in 2014, will receive the award at an event on 8 January, just prior to the Golden Globes main event take place, within an event billed by the Golden Globes as Golden Eve.

This will also include the awarding of the Globes’ Carol Burnett honor for television achievement, the recipient of which remains unannounced. The prior year’s honorees were Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as a powerhouse performer, and her professional journey is nothing short of exceptional,” remarked the Golden Globes president, the Globes’ leader. “Her transcendent performances and devotion to her art persistently influence generations of artists and viewers as well. It is a profound honour to bestow upon her the DeMille prize.”

Career Highlights

Helen Mirren rose to fame in the 1970s via important performances on stage at London’s West End and with the Royal Shakespeare Company and in films such as O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

During the nineties, her starring role in detective drama Prime Suspect increased her popularity further. Additional notable movies comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She received an Oscar for her performance as the Queen in the 2006 movie The Queen, a role she revisited during 2013 for The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan concerning the sessions between the queen and the PM Margaret Thatcher, a role for which she received a Tony Award during 2015.

Current and Forthcoming Appearances

• Subsequent cinematic works feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, where she served as narrator.
• Her performance in the Netflix adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has also been praised with award talk is growing around her performance as an ailing family head in Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June.
• Next year, she will appear as Patricia Highsmith in the drama by Anton Corbijn, Switzerland.

Globes nominations will be declared on 8 December, with Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet and Coogler’s Sinners likely to receive multiple nominations.
