Actor Rejects Anti-Vaccine Stance After Voicing Controversial Coronavirus Documentary
The "Taken" star has provided his narration to a recent film that casts doubt on the legitimacy of vaccinations and commends former cabinet secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Provocative Foundation
Named "Plague of Corruption," the project is adapted from a bestselling book written by a disgraced researcher, who gained notoriety during the pandemic for claims that the illness was linked to a faulty batch of the seasonal immunization.
The publication's collaborator, Kent Heckenlively, has penned books with conspiracy-prone figure Alex Jones. Heckenlively took to social media praising Neeson's participation in the film.
A Firm Rebuttal
A spokesperson for Neeson have provided a response strongly denying implications that he subscribes to anti-vaccine sentiments.
"Many understand that unethical practices may occur within the pharmaceutical industry, but that should never be confused with rejection of vaccines," the comment reads. "Neeson is not, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His long work with the UN children's agency underscores his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."
The statement noted that the performer did not shape the film's narrative and that questions about its assertions should be directed to the producers.
Key Claims In the Film
In the film, the voiceover provided by Neeson includes several controversial points:
- It suggests that pro-immunization voices have called for "complete compliance" to government bodies.
- It argues that "research has become highly politicized."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is interviewed stating, "The big problem with vaccines is that they simply are not adequately tested."
- The film also criticizes Covid lockdowns, arguing they caused mental anguish that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Concerning the immunizations, it mentions a report that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Previous Background and Current Debates
The film further cites a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was afterwards the focus of a correction by the broadcaster for unbalanced reporting.
In recent weeks, RFK Jr instructed the Centers for Disease Control to alter its long-held position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is also referenced in the film, despite a fresh analysis from the WHO stating no evidence has been found.
A Previous Record of Support
Contrasting the film's message, Neeson has formerly voiced firm endorsement for vaccines in his capacity as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "an incredible triumph," noting that "The debate about vaccines in the past few years has lost sight of how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" finishes with Neeson's script stating, "This isn't the end of our narrative. This is the beginning of a fresh chapter."
