A Pig's Tale: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the same level as granting clemency to Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own ceremonial pardon event this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “six seven” – deriving from a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The craze became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently named “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: happy, diverse, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
